Gryphon Singers

In addition to winning 1st and 2nd prize in the Collegiate Category of Choral Canada’s National Amateur Choir Competition, the University of Guelph Gryphon Singers won Third Prize in the 2012 Mosbach International Chamber Choir Competition. Comprised of students and alumni who specialize in fields as diverse as Agriculture, Languages, Music, Engineering, and all manner of Sciences, the choir performs at charitable functions as well as University services: our CD, The Bells of Peace, raised funds for War Child Canada, and in 2016 we helped to raise over $60,000 for Bracelet of Hope.  In the fall of 2017, Gryphon Singers collaborated with Voices of Joy Community Choir in order to support the singing of their 60 developmentally challenged members. We also accepted invitations to sing at national events such as Podium 2002 (Toronto), 2012 (Ottawa), and 2018 (St. John’s, NL), University Voices (2002- 2014) and at international festivals, such as Festival 500 (2005) in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Kathaumixw International Choral Festival (2006) in Powell River, British Columbia, and the Elora Festival (2006) in Elora Ontario, and PODIUM 2018 in Newfoundland. Future goals include more international festivals, and to accept an invitation to sing with and for children in the barrios of the Dominican Republic.

Two rows of choir members stand on stage in a semicircle. They are dressed in all black formal clothes.
